Are Autumn Sunsets More Beautiful Than Summer Ones?

Here is an interesting one, im posting this while looking at a sunset outside my window now, it seems to me that it is much prettier and has more colours than the ones in summer, is it me just paying attention to all the colours now or is it true?

Thanks

Re: Are Autumn Sunsets More Beautiful Than Summer Ones?

The skies are generally clearer than in summer, with the upper atmosphere being clearer too. With sunset being earlier at thsi time of year they may be more noticeable too.

It would be interesting to see what others think

Don't forget, because the angle of the Sun is 'shallower', the twilight is longer, and there is greater refraction.

its not only the sunsets but more spectacular sunrises. Plus we get to see them at a more reasonable hour than during the summer

Re: Are Autumn Sunsets More Beautiful Than Summer Ones?

I agree, Kate, absolutely amazing! I think ive found some correlation between high pressure and low pressure sunsets.

High Pressure:

Not much variation of colour, mainly orangey and pale.

Low Pressure:

Variety of colours in great sharpness.

Here are some photos to compare:

High Pressure 1020mb:

Low Pressure 1002mb:

However im not sure as the timelapse of todays high pressure sunset is absolutely stunning, thats all i can say!
