Re: Can anybody help me with this photo

Hi Luke, first welcome back to MWF!

If it is a funnel its a very faint one! Though otherwise it may be something known as Scud if that is right.

Re: Can anybody help me with this photo

(Ok i found out what a scud is) Scud cloud - Low ragged and wind-torn appearing cloud fragments, usually not attached to the thunderstorm base, often seen in association with, and behind gust fronts. Scud clouds DO NOT produce severe weather. Scud clouds are often mistaken for wall clouds and tornadoes, especially when attached to the thunderstorm base. A way to differentiate scud clouds from wall clouds is to watch their relative position with respect to the rain area: scud clouds move away from the rain area while wall clouds maintain the same relative distance

Re: Can anybody help me with this photo

The question is did it come from the bottom of the cloud as it could be wind trails from planes and you are looking directly at them.

Re: Can anybody help me with this photo

Well to be honest i did not see it coming from the bottom of the cloud when i looked out the window it was already there and no plane's were flying in that direction, the cloud and wind was coming from the west and planes need lift to take of so they would of taken off into the west against the wind(plus the wind was very calme)hope this helped and thanks again

I would be tempted to agree with Mos. A decaying con trail behind the subject clouds being caught by the rising sun.
