| Re: Damage reports 10 to 11 Jan 2007 More than 1,500 homes are without electricity in Enniskillen and Omagh after high winds brought down power lines overnight. Westerly areas of Northern Ireland have been worst affected, with a number of homes in Coleraine also without power. In Derry the Foyle Bridge has been closed to high sided vehicles. The bad weather is set to continue throughout the day. Severe gales are forecast - up to force 11 - especially during the afternoon and around the north coast. | Re: Damage reports 10 to 11 Jan 2007 Severe weather swept across Wales overnight, with heavy rain and winds gusting up to 70 mph (113 km/h). The high winds have brought down power lines in some places and the Asda supermarket in Llandudno, Conwy, had part of its roof blown off. A man was treated in hospital after his car crashed into a fallen tree on the A484 in Llangeler, Carmarthenshire. The Met Office warned that the gales were expected to continue into the afternoon before beginning to ease. North Wales Fire Service said a house in Nant Peris, Gwynedd, lost its roof and chimney in the strong winds. A large tree fell across the A4080 at Llanfairpwll on Anglesey. Severe weather warnings have been in place across much of England, with the bad weather forecast to continue, particularly in the West. Flood warnings were put in place throughout eastern England after rivers burst their banks in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex. | Re: Damage reports 10 to 11 Jan 2007 Flood warnings have been issued for parts of Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, and Shropshire. The Environment Agency said levels on the River Severn in Shropshire were still rising and a flood barriers had been erected. Warnings are in place on the River Avon around Rugby and Warwick, on the River Leam from Marton to Leamington Spa and on the River Severn around Tewkesbury. Low-lying property in the Ironbridge Gorge is also on flood alert. Last month heavy rain saw the River Severn reach a peak in the Bridgnorth area of Shropshire of about 14.7ft (4.5m) and 15ft (4.6m) above its normal level in Bewdley in Worcestershire. A spokesman for the Environment Agency said it did not yet know if the river would reach the same level. The second phase of the demountable barriers will be put up in Frankwell in Shrewsbury later after the recent heavy rain. There are flood watches on the River Avon in Worcestershire, the River Blythe in Warwickshire and along the Severn in parts of Shropshire and Gloucestershire. | Re: Damage reports 10 to 11 Jan 2007 Severe wind and rain has brought chaos to parts of the UK and sparked a series major flood alerts across the country. Roads have been closed because of the gale force winds while some areas have seen flash flooding and several rivers are at bursting point. Western Power Distribution (WDP) said around 80,000 customers in Wales were without power and it had drafted in extra workers from England to help out. The bad weather is set to continue throughout the day, forecasters said. Meanwhile, Southeastern Railways, Southern Railways and South West Trains all reported trees falling onto lines across their networks. The Environment Agency has issued 59 flood warnings across England and Wales so far in areas where it expects homes and businesses to be flooded. A spokesman said the areas they were most concerned about were the River Severn in Shropshire and the River Ouse in York. "With all the rainfall recently everywhere is saturated and rivers are very sensitive to more rain at the moment," the spokesman said. In Scotland, five flood warnings were issued by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA). BBC NEWS | UK | Severe weather brings flood risk

"Very rough" conditions in the English Channel led to ferry crossings in Kent and Sussex being suspended. Operation Stack was brought in on the M20. The QEII Bridge at the Dartford River Crossing between Essex and Kent was closed, with clockwise M25 traffic diverted through one of the tunnels. Trees across railway lines near Newington and Chatham, Kent, affected Southeastern Railway services. The Met Office said severe weather warnings had been in place, with gusts of more than 60mph forecast for the South East. BBC NEWS | England | Travel routes hit by strong winds
