storm Thunderstorms bring flash floods

Parts of Wales have been hit by flash flooding after powerful storms brought heavy overnight rain and hailstones.

Homes in several areas of south Wales had to be pumped out when rain poured down at what forecasters called "an incredible rate".
Emergency teams were called Chepstow, Cardiff and Swansea as storms hit on Friday night and early Saturday.

storm Boy sleeps on as lightning hits

A three-year-old boy has slept through a lightning strike which blew a hole in his bedroom wall.

Elis Roberts's parents found him fast asleep in his room, which was covered in masonry, plaster and dust.
The lightning blew all the light bulbs and electrical equipment in the house and other homes in the Flintshire road as storms hit north Wales.

That is shocking! I hope he is alright. It is amazing that such severe weather is on our very doorstep.

Re: Boy sleeps on as lightning hits

Thunder, what Thunder? What is it?

Those with the floods must of experienced really really bad rainfall and that boy must of had a nice but deep sleep to go through that!

Two people suffered injuries when a microlight crashed in a field near Bath in stormy weather.

The crash happened at about 2045 BST on Friday night in a field in Hinton Charterhouse near Radstock.
The pilot and passenger sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Royal United Hospital.

Avon and Somerset Police have passed all information to the Air Accident Investigation Branch of the Department of Transport. The pilot suffered chest injuries, emergency services said.
