Re: Watson W-8681 - first month

I tried uploading my latest file and nothing in the data displayed on the web site change. It took a second or two to upload the file, but the displayed data stayed the same on the site - as in
Last Record: 17:37 Mon 30 Jun

Would you like me to forward my latest file?

Re: Watson W-8681 - first month

That seems to have fixed it - Any chance of a copy of what ever is needed to put that on one of my web sites? Then all I would need is an automated method to upload the file regularly

[EDIT] It is showing 9.3mm of rain in the last hour on the site - my station was showing nil, but has suddenly shot up to a silly value. There has been no rain, honest. I think the problem is that the file becomes corrupted, when two things access it at the same time - my station writing to it whilst at the same time sending the file to your web site.

Thumbs down Re: Watson W-8681 - first month

You have a bigger problem than that !

Look at the data file, things went wrong hours earlier.

It would seem your wx firmware rather than EasyWeather software rufuses to reduce rain per hour to less than 9.3mm.

Others have reported 'rain' problems - I'd demand my money back, methinks 'tis a design flaw.

If there is enough demand I'll neaten up the php file which was intended as a 'front end' for a JavaScript AJAX page - but I'm thinking the likely size of the dat file and the errors produced in the dat file make for a headache !

Re: Watson W-8681 - first month

Mmmm, I think I see what you mean...

I have just checked the 24hour rain record on the LCD display, but it only shows 0.07inches. So that rain in the EasyWeather.dat file must be false rain. Either the EasyWeather software is corrupting it or the USB is corrupting it - my guess latter.

Re: Watson W-8681 - first month

I have just carried out a little experiment....

The LCD display again said no rainfall, yet checking the rainfall graph for the past 24 hours in EW it showed a line which resembled the graph of a severe earthquake - The line was shooting up and down regularly, whereas the line is of the incremental type. Once the total rainfall has been added by additional rainfall the line on the graph should only rise - never ever fall.

If the EasyWether.dat file is deleted, it is replaced the first time you run EW, with data being downloaded from the display back to the time the displays data was last cleared. I deleted the file, then ran EW which downloaded again the data from the display for the past few days from its internal memory of the past few days.

Looking at the same graph for the same period of rainfall in EW (todays rainfall), it is not now showing any false rainfall. This I think proves that the firmware in the LCD display is fine, so the problem must be either in the EW software, or corruption during the tranfer of data via USB. This happened using the EW V4.12. I going to run V1 for a while now.

Earthquake = Bad

but - If it is a 24hr graph (as opposed to 'today') then it is NOT incremental.

Meaning this argument is false:

See WANTED - Modern weather 'saw' pitfalls and think 24hr instead of 60min.

Did you run my page in debug and do all the answers look good ?

and what's happend to all the other EasyWeather users ?

Re: Watson W-8681 - first month

The graph line starts at zero at the bottom. If 3mm of rain falls, it rises to 3mm. If 6mm falls the second day, it rises to 9mm and so on.

Thinking about this, I wonder what happens when the line gets to the top of the scale? I don't see any method to reset to zero.

Yes to the debug question and yes the answers look good

[EDIT]
The answer is on the record page... There is a clear button to clear the .dat file and another one to clear the records in the LCD Display. Which means the PC can write to the display as well as read from it. If decide to clear both, clearing the .dat file first - the data will simply be read from the display replacing your empty .dat file with a part full one from the display. Clearing the display first then the .dat will clear both.

I still cannot see a method by which I can clear the 'Scope' display. This stores the date and time of all the maximums and minimums (extremes of everything). None of the above actions clear it.

Last hour, 24 hour, Week, or Month - all show a line graph of the total rainfall. The difference being that is shows you a small a larger section of the line. So irrespective of which setting you use, the end of the line on the right of the screen will be the same value. Perhaps it ought to display a rate of rainfall, rather than a total to date?

Would you like a copy of the software and a set of records (.dat) to examine?
