I removed Firefox and re-installed it to make it the default. It was the quickest way. What OS were you using, by the way? Thanks.

Vista home, on my advent laptop... Intel celeron M410 1.46 GHz with intel 940 GML (callistoga) 128 Mb shared memory and 1 Gig ram. It all ran fine on it....just wasnt inpressed

Thanks for the info. I am just tracking down some thoughts on IE7 making itself the default whether I wanted it or not and making it difficult to undo it.

IE8 hasn't impressed me much so far either, to be honest. But then people's mileage can vary.
Increasingly, I have grown to prefer Linux and just boot to Vista to try out new products.
I think one day I will remove macroshaft for ever and gain some more storage! LOL
