WMR-100 Update

Hello everyone.

For anyone who is interested, I have an update on the Gedney Hill Weather Station.

You may recall that I set up my station in January of this year. It was an Oregon WMR-100, a Christmas gift from my wife. From day one I had problems with the station communicating with my computer. Some days it would, other days it wouldn’t, most of the time it was pretty useless.

I had sent dozens of emails to Oregon Scientific UK complaining bitterly, but politely. A reply to one of my recent emails, which wasn’t quite so polite ended in a result. They agreed to replace my old station with a new one, and an upgrade. To enable me to continue using my existing sensors, they sent me a WMR-200!! Wow what a difference. It is brilliant, and connected first time, and has done so every day since. The data logger is very useful for me as I don’t leave my station connected 24/7.

OK, you could say that the 200 costs considerably more than the 100, but I still believe that the 100 has an inherent problem and should do what it says on the tin.

I had read reports on the Ambient forum that people in the US were having the same problems as me, and in fact had had theirs replaced with an upgrade, I used this as a part of my argument.

Any one else having problems with their WMR-100 stations, have a go, you have nothing to lose, and good luck.

Alan.
