| Hi OK I'm pretty techie but this is stumping me. I used to be on DynDns as I had a dynamic ip address but then purchased a static ip address from O2 so have left the DynDNS lapse. I have my domain name though 123-reg.co.uk I have put the DNS server ip addresses in for use with 123-reg and now my URL's i.e. www.scotweather.co.uk/hw/pic.jpg (for example) no longer work as the only forwarding option replaces the URL address bar with www.scotweather.co.uk only. So if I wanted to go to a different page I'd have to put in my url with my IP address instead e.g. ###.###.###.###/hw/portal.php What am I missing.... there must be away to get the full url path back ? Your help would be most appreciated. Cheers K

| Re: URL Issue The beteljuice knows nothing about managing DNS, using only 'web forwarding'. Does sound like web forwarding to a single page. although it could be an entry in the dreaded .htaccess either @ 123 or your own server. Limited help on DNS on page 24 http://my-123-domain.co.uk/guides/esg_domains_005.pdf

| Re: URL Issue Thanks BJ Have already emailed support - useless to say the least except they said that it could be a nameserver but theirs doesn't do what I'm asking. Useless! As for the .htaccess file I do not have a clue ! I've read the manual for webforwarding 5 times now and its still useless ! I've even setup a virtual webserver on apache but what the heck do I do with it now >? can you web forward to a virtual webserver? Anyone know how to configure .htaccess file ? if so then HELP ! aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!

| Re: URL Issue so your dns with 123 reg will be pointing to 2 name servers ns1 and ns2.domain.com that in turn will have your glue records for your server IP addresses - 2 in total - i each for ns1 and ns2 your server will then have a dns with, a, mx and all the other records for resolving Welcome to ScotWeather

| Re: URL Issue Kate In your DNS settings you need to change your IP Address (A-Record) to point at your fixed ip address for the web pages and if you use a mail server on your server then the Mail Server (MX Record) also needs to point at your fixed ip address. Steve

| Re: URL Issue Thank you... I'm trying it out on a site that isn't as important as my weather site to see if that works. Will let you know in a couple of hours once the DNS updates.

| Re: URL Issue Ok Stumpey I did as you suggested and the URL still stays the same with no directory information after the www.scotweather.co.uk e.g. www.scotweather.co.uke/index.php Could I be missing something in htaccess or apache? The www server on the DNS is pointing to my static IP address. What is annoying is it used to work just fine through DynDNS ![]()

| Re: URL Issue Hi I checked your pages you are using frame redirect, this is normally used if you want to cover up the real destination of a web page. You need to use http redirect.... this is in the top of your page which gives the game away when I do view source <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/frameset.dtd"> I use frame redirect for stumpey.co.uk Steve
