Lightbulb EasyWeather Forum Poster

Due to the rather huge quantities of newbies who have purchased the Watson or one its clones, the beteljuice has produced this:

EasyWeather Forum Poster

Most of the 'newbies' are innocents in every respect, having little or no software / web design experience, and unwilling to purchase expensive wx software.

This uses a php parser which is not really fully tested yet, but hopefully I will 'release' later for those who are interested.

There may also be an AJAX version in the works if someone else doesn't do a better version first. (Please)

Re: EasyWeather Forum Poster

The routine starts with the last (latest) entry, and works backwards for upto 24 hrs (todays worth).

Yes the routine could be expanded to cope with say a years worth of data, but there is no guarantee that an on-line request would be a complete or meaningful record. Plus no ones had a Watson for a year yet

Your own records highlight what seems to be a recuring Watson problem. signal 'drop-out at 20:10 and 20:15.

I may have to rewrite the code. The inbuilt php 'Max' function regards --- as a low value - no problem, but it is also true for the 'Min' function - that is why your Min. temp value of --- (no signal) is regarded as valid !

I may have to go back to real maths and compare throuhout the various arrays.

Most important thing - do you think it's useful, or will it never see the light of day ?

>Your own records highlight what seems to be a recuring Watson problem. signal 'drop-out at 20:10 and 20:15.

It would be unreasonable to expect 100% perfect reception, besides which there has been lots of thunder tonight, which might have knocked the signal out. Even under normal conditions the signal has to pass through 3 to 4 house walls and around 30 metres of distance.

>Most important thing - do you think it's useful, or will it never see the light of day ?

Most - definately very useful. The problem with the forum is that the useful to Watson owner material needs to be searched for. Likely the other owners have not yet found it.

Thumbs down Re: EasyWeather Forum Poster

Hmm......

In trying to get around the "---" no signal entry I have discovered a few other associated problems.

I'm going to have to do a bit of a rethink and re-write - I'll be back !

Edit: 05:00

Quick fix done, but if "current" readings are lost it will still look odd.

tweaks will be ongoing !

If nothing else, you could possibly rework the Carter Lake Ajax templates. They were originally written for Weather Display, and have been modified for VWS. I believe I'm using some of the base AJAX code for my WeatherElement development.

If you are stuck for the EasyWeather software you can download it from the manufacturers web site-

Fine Offset Eletronics Co.,LTD.

Other than that, take a look at 'Cumulus' -
