Wink An Open letter from...

An open letter from "Disappointed" of Shard upon End

Dear Sirs,

Once upon a time, we were regaled with fantastic astronomy pictures taken by MWF members who are fortunate enough to own a decent telescope. I have noticed a considerable demise in the amount of the aforementioned pics and with Mars displaying magnificently overhead as I write, I wonder if we will indeed, be fortunate enough to be treated to some captures of the "Red Planet"?

The standard of photography on this forum is without question outstanding and a credit to it's users. I for one relish with anticipation, the prospect of more astronomy photos...

In short Mr K' and Mr P'.... ANY CHANCE OF SOME MARS PICS PLEASE!

Re: An Open letter from...

I will try to capture some images of the red one for you,but to be honest it is a little too small on my DSLR sensor to get any detail.
Even with a high mag the image would be very small, but when I get chance i'll have a go for you.

Re: An Open letter from...

Thanks TMI

I have had a peek through the binoculars, but it's not the same as some of the pics forum members can get. There wouldn't be much point in me buying a decent scope because the light pollution here is horrendous mostly from the airport.

If you are interested in astronomy, you can still get some decent results from light polluted areas,as images on the site i'll give you the link for will testify.
ASTRO-CHAT - :: Index
A worthwhile site to join if you're interested, but I would say that as i'm a mod on it.

Re: An Open letter from...

A bit difficult to get any decent results due to the gusty breeze.

BUT

Heres 3 photos i just took

Mars, M42 (Orion Nebula) and a wide angle view to the south. Sorry for them being a bit out of focus - its a bit chilly on the hands too lol!
