That Sentinel R1 ASTOR is a stunning aircraft. They only came into service this year and with 5 sqdn being the only ones to operate them, thats a good capture

Shardy,if memory serves me correctly,it monitors forces on the ground,whereas the AWACSmonitior the sky and the Nimrods monitor the sea.

Good photos....

Always used to go to the airshows at waddington havn't been for ages though. May have to next year.

Don't you get a telling off for taking pictures at RAF's bases when there's now show on etc

All the info is supposed to combine now, but this is a joint op with the army for ground movemetns as imp says.

Thanks for the info both.

But will this top the Yanks from bombing our troops on the ground?

Target aquisition? ok so it can see a convoy moving on the ground from 50,000 feet...but who's convoy?

I don't think there will ever be anything as good as human eyeballs on the ground in a fwd O.P. for target aquisition...

but maybe I'm biased

It should certainly help the Yanks get the correct targets,well if the use the information correctly.Knowing the Yanks though,they'll just go in gungho anyway.
