An innovative evening event for up to 10,000 members of the public, brings the passion and excitement of maritime adventure to you in compelling fashion - a collision of great moments of seafaring courage and inspiration. Admiral Lord Nelson himself will guide us through the action. Nelson's youth (he was 12 when he went to sea) is mirrored by the energy of a group of young people, who are joined by Royal Navy sailors and marines, together with the extraordinary skills of a specialist troupe of "free runners". The theatrical action combines lighting, projection, daring physical performance together with a dramatic soundtrack. The event embraces the great architecture of Trafalgar Square, Nelson's iconic column and the audience itself. A celebration of seafaring endeavour and exciting look into our maritime future, something to remember for another 100 years! A stirring musical ending will be provided by the choir of Newcastle Royal Grammar School and Susan Jiwey, a professionally trained opera singer whose recent appearances include the title role in Handel's Alcina, along with the music of the Band of the Royal Marines. All tickets for the 6:30 to 8:00 pm event are now allocated. Registration for tickets to the Trafalgar Square evening event has now closed.
