"War Of The Worlds" Pilgrimage

A group of us is heading down to Woking to camp over the weekend and visit many of the places that feature in H.G. Well's classic novel "The War Of The Worlds". Our first stop on Saturday will be Horsell Common, the place where the martians first landed in the book, then we'll be heading into Woking itself to see the tripod fighting machine that was built to commemorate the first ever real Sci-fi story.
The weather for Friday looks good for driving, as the flow from the north will bring a fresh cooler feel, but it looks like rain will be an unfortunate feature for Saturday. Hopefully it won't last too long and we'll be able to get some good video footage of our trip.

Re: "War Of The Worlds" Pilgrimage

Thank you Luke, yes a good night storm would be awesome and rather fitting, but looks unlikely unless Saturday's rain band peps up a bit.

Right, where's me brolly?!

Just to mention, one scene of War of the Worlds was placed in East Sheen.

Re: "War Of The Worlds" Pilgrimage

That was a brilliant weekend! Lots of camping, beer, walking, filming and general silliness! Yes, the weather was a bit soggy but it didn't put a dampener on a great time!

There'll be a video on YouTube in a few days, but for now this is a piccy of us lot in Woking.

My town also mentioned "Sunbury Cross under a pall of smoke "The War of the Worlds" by H.G.Wells."

Only had chance to catch a little of the video at the moment, the web site looks great, very professional. Don't forget to add it to our links directory as a permanent reminder/reference to everyone.
