| Re: Tomatoes OK so what am I doing wrong? I'm getting wilting tomatoes! They are starting to wilt from the top. They are not allowed to dry out nor get too wet so I really don't know what is happening. Any ideas ?

I could go on about the compost used etc but i think that's not the problem. But as you say they are wilting from the top probably means goodbye to them

| Re: Tomatoes Don't panic Scotweather it sounds to me as if you have leaf curl, as Thunderstorm said i'ts due to the hot weather. Your plants are not dying. Have you got coolglass on the windows to shade the plants from direct sunlight? Good ventilation is very important, misting around lunchtime will help with cooling and aid pollenation. You will get your crop even if your plants are not as prettey as they they were. |

| Re: Tomatoes The pathetic tomato plant. I took it out of the greenhouse today as outside was marginally cooler than the greenhouse but it looks worse than the photos now.

| Re: Tomatoes Good lord, what I would do now is cut off all the dead and dying bits, new growth should then start very quickly. I looks to me as if it's strong sunlight through glass has caused some of the damage, the leaves have been burnt. |

| Re: Tomatoes Quote:
I must confess that I have only ever grown tomatoes outside, other than an abortive attempt to have them grow through winter. (All kinds of little beasties reside indoors and flocked to my moneymaker.) As an experiment I did grow a few plants, of uncertain provenance, outside, in Ireland, in the Summer of 2001. My relatives thought I was wasting my time. They were right! The fruit was miniature, though I don't think the variety was! Still, picked green, they coloured up on a sunny window sill and had some flavour when thrown into a stir fry. |
