North - South Lightning

Just messing with my various bits of coding examples - take a look at this string of dead straight (N-S) lightning stikes just outside of Grenoble.

Anybody know if this kind of behavoir is common (approx 80 km) ?

Re: North - South Lightning

I ahven't got a clue BEtel. I'm sure we'll start to see lots of stuff like this as improvements in charting the strikes continue to be made. Its all triangulated, so it should be accurate, just not sure about its commonality.

That was my initial thought, but strikes in different parts of Europe were OK, and I resampled their data 5 times in 10 mins and the time / lat-long was consistant.

Still could have been a problem with their triangulation prog.

Have to keep half an eye open in the future.

Re: North - South Lightning

Didn't check 'local' info, but although I called it North -South, subsequent re-samples of the data showed (by age) strikes moving South to North.
