Swirly thing alert !!

Noticed on the Radar that there is a large amount of low pressure sitting just off the West Irish Coast and looks very "Hurricane Like" (my words ). With the amount of Rain that seems to be forecasted for Ireland I thought it would be interesting to hear other more qualified opinions and to watch what happens.......perhaps a telephone call to the BBC weather service !!

Atlantic Charts - Met Éireann - The Irish Meteorological Service Online - This shows the charts !

Re: Swirly thing alert !!

Further update...The met office predict that the low pressure will make little Eastwards progress, so according to them shouldn't make landfall.

Smile Re: Swirly thing alert !!

love the title Mitch that's technical terminology we can all relate to

so i may be able to get away with calling a ...

tornado - a wheelie bin whizzer

lightning - flashy stuff

thunder - rumbly stuff

heavy rain - damping a bit out there

and strong winds - hang on to your hat weather

a typical forecast could run as follows :

there will be severe hang on to your hat weather with periods of damping a bit out there - later there could be some flashy and rumbly stuff - and the possibility of a few isolated wheelie bin whizzers

well nothing like bringing meteorology to the masses

( sorry just could not resist - got my silly head on today )

Brett .

Re: Swirly thing alert !!

Hi all,

Well today saw a bout of skirt grabbers in my area (sharp gusts), then of course we have brass monkeys in the winter, usually accompanied by slippery suff and cold wet stuff.

With luck we shall get some angry bits (what my daughter called a thunderstorm when she was about three)

Swirly thing ..................... i like that
