Since the comments to this pic became blog-like, I have reproduced them here.

Original Caption:
Taken at Brentford Locks, where the Grand Union Canal meets the River Thames, West of London.

The walk along the Towpath to Digbeth is 139 miles.

Done it twice.

Takes 9 - 12 days.

Add an extra day if you want to walk, via the Regents Canal, to Limehouse Basin in East London.

Easy Level Lowland Walking, just wear...

Ridgeway Challenge40 Walk.

Sat 10 May 2008.
An annual 40 mile walk, from Overton Hill [4.5 miles W of Marlborough] to Streetly [Thames Valley, 3 trainstops W of Reading] along easy tracks, but under pressure of time.
Fully Organised, with St Johns and Raynet to look after you.
Food and Drink supplied at checkpoints.
Not a ramble. An Endurance Event.
Not so much about walking, which is easy.
Mostly its about Personal Organisation and Planning. ...
