Mushy's problemo!!

I have applied for two positions in the same hospital. I have the relevant qualifications and experience for both positions but I really want the technician post rather than the dispensary assistant post. The assistant post is a fall back. The problem is what if I get offered the assisant job before the technician job (the one I really want). If I accept it and end up getting offered for the technician job i'll be really dissappointed but then if I turn down the assistant job and don't get offered the technician job I won't have either!!!

Make it subtlely plain at the interview that you are a tech person.
ie - nerdy - dead interested in equipment - precise in use of machines and recording results - reading tech manuals thoroughly before switching on - less interested in drugs/patients/diseases - etc.

The Assistant job does not look to be particularly challenging, I might even say boring.
Do you want to tough out a session at college?

Yeah someone else said that I might be fed up as an assistant but its a way in to the NHS and also shows that i'm keen as i'm wiiling to go in at a lower level. I'm more than qualified for both positions, the assistant position more so. The student technician post is going to much more challenging and the career prospects are better. It involves studying at college part time, so one week in every six is spent in taunton college. The rest is taught on the job and completed in my own time. The student tech post is always very popular so i've been told and there are only 4 places. I have applied for the assistant job as a back up plan incase I dont get offered the other. I think i'm just going to be honest with them and say that I really want the student position but am willing to start off as an assistant if needs be!Posted 02-May-2009 at 17:01 by mushyb86

Brilliant!
You are to become a qualified nerd, like many others on MWF.
