morning all - Mr bedford's blog on national express - has got me penning this
now i DID consider attending the autumn TORRO conference - and as i don't now drive ( not allowed to ) i had a look at getting to oxford and back in a day - not a difficult task you may of thought - WRONG !!
by train - to get to oxford at say 10 am - would require at least one change and a very early start + would cost an arm and a leg
by national express - a 6 0r 7 hour marathon ( depending on service ) including a stop at heathrow for any thing up to an hour ( why ??? )
sooooooooo - if you want to travel to oxford on a sunday ( from plymouth ) and have to return the same day - FORGET IT .
AND ANOTHER THING - why is it most major events are always held up that way ?? - there is life outside the M25 !!! but us folk in Devon - have got used to the "mind over matter " attitude that is exhibited to any where outside the M25 /"home counties " - ya know ..........................
"we don't mind and you don't matter "
ho hum ............
oh and as to only 3 windows being open during busy times ?? - i have noticed its the same in some supermarkets - when there is no one about all the tills are staffed - when it is busy most of them are not - guess we really should not go shopping during staff tea breaks ??
and i always seem to pick the one where the person at the front has a problem - or just cant decide which of the 40 credit cards they have ,to use - or some moron has a problem with the "less than 10 items " sign .....................
or am i just getting cynical and less tolerant with advancing years ??
have a good day all

| | I know where you are coming from Brett! Our supermarkets are useless for their queues and travelling anywhere other than Edinburgh or Glasgow is a joke on public transport. As for being outside the M25 at least you are recognised... Scotland on the otherhand is somewhere on Mars for some! |
