morning all - hot ain't it ?? any ways to days rant on things ridiculous sort of follows on from the bottled water one

on BBC BREAKFAST ( yes guilty i watch it ) - declan curry was interviewing some posh lady about how to save money owing to the credit crunch -you know one of those that actually BELEIVES that the average national wage is 32,000 a year or whatever and she suggested the following :

turn off lights and computers when not in use

take less ( note LESS ) holidays

cut down on meals in restaurants - especially the lobster thermadore

drive less ( but of course she did not mention taking or having the nanny take ), the brats to school just up the road in the chelsea tractor that has never been off road other than M&S car park ( was going to say tesco's - but too posh to shop there )

get a filter jug to save buying bottled water or even drink it from the tap

and so it went on .............................

welcome to the real world lady !! - some of us have been doing this stuff and more for years - and have never HAD a lobster thermadore

yeech - is it me or does the beeb honestly think that we are all on LONDON wages and standard of living ??

ah well had better go and see what meager repast i can scrape together for my lunch - enjoy the sunshine all

Brett .

ps. i don't mind people having money - just that i ain't one of them - ho hum ....

i do get the feeling that the BBC thinks London is the "centre of everything" (having said that they are based there)
But with regards to some of the bullet points you made Brett:
- i only go on one holiday a year for 5 days (normally) and most of the time it is within the UK by car (note not pumping ridiculus amounts of fuel by plane). We also spend a lot of time 'walking' or 'cycling' rather than using the car everywhere
- drive less (hmm a bit difficult at the moment as I'm currently learning to drive) but i get the bus to school everyday and if i need to pop in town, i'll get the bus too - as expensive as it is. If they want us to use public services more then reduce the price! lol
We have a Brita Filter - it just won't fit in the fridge door! So in summer months we pour tap water into a big plastic jug, stick it in the fridge door and voila - cold water

Please note just cos we live in London or the burbs does not mean we earn telephone number salaries. An average 3 bed house in my area costs 300 grand and my Tesco bill is 200 quid a week for 4 people, this does not include lobster!.No holiday for me this year cos I am skint
