| Typhoon Frank hits Phillipines
"As of the latest count of the country's disaster response and management office, nearly 300 people were confirmed dead following the onslaught of Typhoon Frank over the weekend.
The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), using figures from the department of Health, added that at least 1,000 people are reported missing including the passengers of the ill-fated M/V Princess of the Stars.
The NDCC, in its 6 p.m. bulletin Tuesday, reported that 198,224 families from 1,898 barangays in 207 municipalities were affected by the typhoon.
It said that 45,149 families were evacuated to 439 evacuation centers across the country."
